How to Make a Tropical Bird Tire Planter

If you have a creative streak and a few old tires lying about, why not consider recycling those tires and putting them to good use: Tropical Bird Planters!

^_^:
1го Cut the bird neck edge.
Starting about 1 inch from the edge, make a single cut about 3/4 length of the tire. Repeat on other side about 1 inch from the other edge. The more you cut the easier it will be to turn inside out.

^_^:
2го Create the tail.
Starting at the beginning of your first straight cut (around the tire diameter). Make several V cuts until you reach the beginning of your second straight cut. This will form the tail. How far down you cut the V shapes will depend upon how long you would like the tail feather's to be.

^_^:
3го Turning tire inside out.
This step requires a lot of muscle. Physically turn the tire inside out. Try using your foot to hold down the bottom of the tire, both hands at a 12 and 2 position on top. Use your knee (placed in between your two hands) to turn the tire inside out at the "sweet spot".
The neck will flop out after this step.
Attach heavy wire to either side of the birds neck for support. Consider using cable wires to attach wire.

^_^:
4го Clean tire.
Use a degreaser to clean the outside of the tire. Allow to dry.

^_^:
5го Design the head.
Using the end opposite of the tail feathers, create your birds head shape, depending upon what type of bird you are trying to create. First trim. Than using a slanted curve incision, you can create different shaped beaks and bills.

^_^:
6го Paint your tire planter using heavy duty acyrlic paint. Household paint will not stand up. Paint in your color choice(s). Let dry.

^_^:

*When using different paints let the first color choice dry first. Then proceed with second color choice.
*Handle utility scissors with care.

This sounds like a clever idea! Do you have some photos? I need more help to picture it!
